What is Fine Arts Festival?

A creative ministry through the AG network where students discover and develop their God-given gifts through art. Top groups advance from the Districts level to the National Fine Arts Festival, held during a larger event called National Youth Conference (NYC) — a week filled with powerful speakers, worship, and life-changing moments.

More Than a Competition
Fine Arts is less about trophies and more about transformation.

For many students, this is the first time they realize their creativity has purpose. It builds confidence, strengthens discipline, and creates opportunities to share meaningful stories that point people to something greater.

Behind every performance is a process: months of growth, teamwork, and intentionality. And in many cases, the impact reaches far beyond the stage.

How It Works
Fine Arts Festival is structured to help students grow and progress at every level.
  • District Festival: Students present their pieces locally and receive feedback from evaluators
  • National Festival: Top entries advance to compete and perform on a larger stage
  • Categories Include: Human Video, Drama, Music, Art, Writing, and more
  • Evaluation: Participants are scored based on creativity, execution, and communication — not just talent
At the highest level, Fine Arts becomes part of something even bigger.

Students who advance from Districts are invited to perform at the National Fine Arts Festival, which takes place during National Youth Conference (NYC) — a multi-day event that also includes main sessions, worship experiences, guest speakers, and ministry opportunities alongside the performances.
How to Get Started

You don’t need a massive production or years of experience to begin.
Start small, stay consistent, and focus on growth.

1) Connect with your youth leader or team
2) Choose a category that fits your group
3) Build a simple concept or idea
4) Practice, refine, and prepare to present

The goal is progress, not perfection.

What It Leads To

Fine Arts is a catalyst.

Students walk away more confident, more disciplined, and more aware of how their creativity can make a difference. Many discover passions they carry into future ministry, careers, and personal growth.

For some, it’s their first time stepping on stage.
For others, it’s where they find their voice.

What is Fine Arts Festival?

A creative ministry platform where students use their talents to communicate meaningful messages through various artistic categories.

Who can participate?

Any student 6th - 12th grade through their church youth group. College students can perform through a tangential festival named Kappa Tau.

Do you have to be experienced?

Not at all. Many groups start with little to no experience and grow over time.

How much does it cost?

Each state has a Districts festival, which begins at $35 per category submission. National costs vary by church and travel, but many groups fundraise to make it accessible for everyone.

Is it worth the time and effort?

For most students, it becomes one of the most impactful parts of their year; creatively, spiritually, and relationally.

How does this compare to missions trips?

Both are valuable in different ways. Fine Arts develops students’ gifts and confidence, while missions often focus on outreach and service. Many churches prioritize both throughout the year.

Is it worth going to Nationals / National Youth Conference (NYC)?

100%. If you advance beyond Districts, we can't stress enough the importance of taking your students to the Nationals Festival. It is not only an incredible community builder for your youth, but the long-term impacts it will have are enourmous.

We hear a lot of churches mention they choose Missions over Nationals. We get it, it's an additional cost to fundraise for. However, they are two completely different areas of ministry. Missions is so incredibly important, but so is creating the space for God to refine the gifts and passions He has placed on students' hearts. Pray about it, then trust that God will open the right doors for both Missions and Nationals to happen.

TLDR: we need to see more passionate, excellent creatives in the world on fire for Jesus. Fine Arts Nationals is the launching pad for these students to become the generation that will do just that.

Empower the next generation of Spirit-led storytellers.
